Dear Husky Pack,
I know this is not how any of us anticipated the 2019-2020 school year would come to a close. On March 27, Governor Lujan-Grisham and Secretary Education Stewart announced that school buildings would remain closed for the remainder of the school year and transition to a learning at home model. Though our building is closed and we practice social distancing, we will continue teaching and learning daily and remaining socially connected. Through this order by the Governor, APS worked hard to develop a district Continuous Learning Plan and our school staff worked equally as hard to develop our site Continuous Learning Plan.
Teachers worked to create platforms and engage with families and engage students with educational opportunities which can be found through this website. Additionally, our school website and social media accounts remain updated consistently and include (or will include) a wide variety of resources and materials. If you are not currently following our school’s Facebook, Instagram or Twitter pages I highly encourage you to do so. We can be found at the handle @MarieHughesES.
If you have health related questions you can contact the NM Dept. of Health Hotline 24/7 at 1-855-600-3435. For information on Family Support, you can contact Family Support Services at 1-833-551-0518.
Please know that at Marie Hughes Elementary we exist to support this community. We know that you may have many questions or concerns. There is a link on this website for a Google Form that you can submit your questions and concerns to. School personnel will check that regularly and do our best to respond just as quickly as possible. School personnel are also available via email. We look forward to the day that we can return to our campus and be together as Husky Pack again!
Yours in Education,
Mr. Eli Casaus, Principal
