Back to School SEEK News

Hello 4th and 5th Grade SEEK Families,

Welcome!

I will be teaching both 4th and 5th grade SEEK (Students Exploring and Expanding Knowledge) aka Gifted students this school year. Some of our part-time Teachers of the Gifted might also support 4th and 5th graders during the year.

Please visit my classroom during Back to School Night in Portable 4 on Wednesday, August 5th between 5:45 and 6:25. I will share more information about our classroom and this school year.

Supplies:  I will provide the majority of supplies for the students. Beginning of the year optional requests (just one item per child is greatly appreciated) include: duct tape, tissues, paper towels, clorox wipes, small packages of white Model Magic (4th grade students). I am also collecting cereal boxes and cardboard wrapping paper tubes.

Water Bottles:  Please send a water bottle with your child in her/his backpack OR they may keep a water bottle in our SEEK classroom.

Schedules:  Schedules will be determined soon. Most likely students will attend SEEK classes for two half school days. They will be with their peers during lunch, recesses, and specials classes. They will also stay in their rooms during "first teach" times so that they do not miss new instruction. Classes will most likely start the week of August 10th. I've been called for Jury Duty, so it might impact my schedule these first two weeks of school. As soon as I have the schedules set, I will send families an email and let the general education teachers know.

Schedules

Students schedules will vary based on their individual gifted services plans.

Currently, 4th grade students will attend SEEK class on Wednesdays after morning recess until the end of the school day and also on Thursday mornings before recess. They will also meet with me for another hour each month. (We are still determining this time slot.)

5th grade students will attend SEEK classes on Tuesdays after Specials classes until 1:45 and then again on Wednesday mornings.

All student join their peers during Specials, Lunch, and Recesses.
