My name is Julie Lopez Sanchez and I am a mathematics teacher with Albuquerque Public Schools. Growing up in a family of educators, I remember always wanting to become a teacher . When I was in college, I pursued a degree in Secondary Education Mathematics. My love for teaching continues to motivates me to become a better teacher and foster life long learning in others. I am passionate about teaching students mathematics and I am dedicated to student success.
Professionally, I have earned my Masters Degree with an emphasis on writing to learning mathematics, cooperative learning, differentiated instruction and integrating technology into the mathematics curriculum. I approach classroom teaching as a facilitator of student learning, by establishing clear strategic learning goal for each lesson. I have experience with curriculum development, vertical alignment, and implementation of the Common Core State Educational Standards. As a classroom teacher, I have also supervised and served as a mentor for beginning teachers.
Personally, my philosophy on education is students will live up to higher expectations if given a safe environment and the tools necessary for success in a mathematics classroom. Successful learners need clear goals and objectives delivered in a variety of methods that create independent critical thinkers who are willing to work well with others and on their own. Students need to be able to communicate the understanding of content both verbally and visually using the tools of technology in order to be successful in mathematics.
My skills, experience, dedication, enthusiasm and prior experience working within Albuquerque Public Schools (grades 6-12) and my work with Rio Rancho High School will prove to be a significant asset for teaching Middle School mathematics. I am looking forward to meeting you.
Sincerely,
Julie L. Sanchez
