Standards
Fourth-Grade curriculum is created around the Common Core State Standards in math and ELA. Although meeting the state standards is our ultimate goal, I would also like my students to be challenged beyond the state standards.
Curriculum
Mathematics: We recently adopted the new, Common Core aligned program, called I-ready. I will use supplement material to differentiate as needed to meet individual student needs. It is very important that students know their multiplication facts this year. There is a great website call "Xtra Math" I will get all students set up with an account.
English Language Arts: We will be using the Savvas reading curriculum this year. We will also do leveled book clubs and read aloud activities. They will read and write everyday. Your child will be assigned a nightly reading log.
Social Studies: Students will be studying geography, the history of New Mexico, Government and Economics using teacher created lessons.
Science: The standards covered are Earth and Space, life science and physical science. APS will be using an online resource called Mystery Science.
