Getting Started With EPIC!

For Teachers . . .

Step 1: Create a Teacher Account

1. Open a web browser and go to www.getepic.com.

2. Click "Sign Up" in the top-right corner.

3. Select"Educator" as your account type.

4. Fill in your information (name,email,and password) or sign up withGoogle or Facebook if preferred.

5. Once registered, verify your email if prompted

Step 2: Set Up Your Class

1. Log into your teacher account

2. Click"Classrooms" in the menu on the left side

3. Click"Create Class" or" Add Students" to build your roster

4. Enter each student's name manually OR upload a class list using a .CSV file.

5. Assign an avatar to each student (optional).

Step 3: Generate the Class Code

1. After creating your class, you’ll receive a unique Class Code.

2. Share this code with your students so they can join the class.

Step 4: Find and Assign Books
1. Use the Search  Bar to find books by topic, reading level, or subject.

2. You can filter by: Read-to-Me Books, Audiobooks, Fiction/Non-fiction

3. To assign a book, click on it and then click "Assign".

4. Choose the students or the whole class to assign it to.

Step 5: Monitor Student Progress
1. Click on" Activity" in the left-hand menu.

2. You’ll see which books students have read and how long they spent
reading.

3. Track students' reading time, quiz results, and achievements over time.

Step 6: Create Collections

1. Click"Library"and select "CreateCollection".

2. Add related books into a collection by theme or subject (e.g.,"Space
   Books" or "Biographies").

3. Assign entire collections to students or make them available for free
   exploration.

Step 7: Use Quizzes and Activities

1. Some books come with quizzes or activities at the end to assess
   student comprehension.

2. Assign these to reinforce learning.

Step 8: Communicate with Families (Optional)

1. Click "Invite Families" on the class dashboard.

2. Send an invite link to parents to give students free access at home.

3. Parents can sign up for Epic Free or upgrade to Epic Unlimited for
   additional content.

Step 9: Manage Class Settings 

1. Click on Classrooms to:

• Add or remove students. 

• Reset or update the Class Code

• Edit students’ avatars or names \

Step 10: Log Out
1. When finished, click the profile icon in the top-right corner. 

2. Select Log Out, especially if you’re on a shared device.
