Welcome to Orchestra!
Hello, and welcome to the Hoover orchestra! The Hoover Orchestra Program is based on more than just musical excellence. We obviously take great pride in how well we perform as musicians, but our true reward comes with the way in which we conduct ourselves on a daily basis both in and out of the Orchestra classroom or stage. It is in the way we treat ourselves, each other, as well as those outside the orchestra program that makes the Hoover Orchestra Program the best program that it can be.
Meet your teacher!
My name is Maris Daugherty, and I am your orchestra teacher! I grew up in Albuquerque and I was a member of the Albuquerque Youth Symphony Program from 4th grade until I graduated High School. I play the cello, and you can find me playing in orchestras and orchestra pits around the Albuquerque area. I graduated from the University of New Mexico and began teaching both in the classroom and a private cello studio. I love sharing my passion for music with all students!
I believe that anyone can learn how to play an instrument at any age, and I am committed to make orchestra an accessible and enjoyable experience for all students!
