All About Me

Hi, my name is Jason Gurule. I'm a recent graduate from Belen High School. I have a passion for academics, sports, and volunteerism. I plan on pursuing a degree in Dentistry (Doctor of Dental Surgery) at Creighton University.

I love to work with people. With Dentistry, I can not only provide community service, I can help improve someone's quality of life. I enrolled into the Army Reserves as another way to work and support our country, along with the benefits that the G.I Bill provides.

I look forward to the opportunities that the Reserves and a university environment will bring. I hope to network, build relationships, and engage with the work on my way to my career.

My High School Goals

Goal

Graduate with a 3.8 or higher GPA

Result

I'm pleased to announce that I graduated with a 4.0 GPA, completed the The International Baccalaureate® (IB), and was the Vice President of the National Honor Society (NHS).

Goal

Enroll or participate in Art, sports (see highlights), clubs, and other enrichment programs (4-H, Athletics, volunteerism, etc.)

Result

I played Varsity Football, ran Varsity Track, was a member in 4-H, and the NHS. In addition to playing Varsity Football, I earned 1st-team All State and All-District honors at WR and LB. I also helped lead my team to the State Championship game.

Goal

Complete the The International Baccalaureate® (IB)

Result

Successful completion of the IB program.

Goal

Acquire funding for college (e.g. G.I. Bill, Scholarships, grants, and part-time work)

Result

Will receive the G.I. Bill funding for enrollment in Army Reserves, received 4 local/regional grants, and earned academic scholarships at Creighton University, and earned a Army Reserves scholarship for Dentistry for public service.

My Future Goals and Plans

Graduate from Creighton University with honors with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS).

Pursue a career in public service as a Dentist and Reservist as part of the Army Corp.

Invest money early to build a healthy portfolio for retirement and future children.

Buy a home and/or land for my family and well being.

My Academic Plan

The academic plan is to leverage my grants, scholarships, and part-time earnings to live an atmosphere around like-minded students to be successful in my education experience at Creighton. I hope to mange full time credit hours (per the program requirements), a high GPA, and healthy relationships (friends and networking). I will work to earn internship or extra practicum to ensure my success as a Dentist upon graduation.
