Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,
I would like to welcome you to Jefferson Middle School for an exciting new school year! My name is Heather Reeves, and I will be your child’s Science teacher. This is my Fifth year at Jefferson, and I have been in the classroom in various ways for over ten years. The team here at Jefferson is available, knowledgeable, and supportive. We have created a collaborative community here at Jefferson! I genuinely believe that everyone can succeed if given the right opportunities, and I am eager to work in partnership with you and your child to understand your student’s needs to help him or her be successful.
This year, we will be following the Next Gen Science Standards and using Google Classroom, STEMscopes science, hands-on activities and other fun methods of learning. The first few weeks will be dedicated to creating our class expectations and routines and ensuring everyone understands the tools and technology that we will be using. The students will be helping me to come up with expectations. I will send you a copy of our classroom expectations that the students and I agree upon, so that you can be a part of our classroom community as well. Working as a team, we can ensure that your student achieves success both in the classroom and everywhere else!
You, as a parent or guardian, are an especially important resource in the education of your student. I believe that students thrive most when families, students, and educators all work together. I look forward to collaborating with you throughout the school year. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns about your student’s progress, or school activities. If you call during a class it will go to voicemail as I do not answer while teaching, but I will return all calls or emails as soon as possible. I am also available to meet before or after school by appointment to discuss any concerns.
