My main theme of my sustain investigation was large creatures in fantasy environments, putting normal animals and shaping them to fit into their new location. This whole project allowed me to practice landscapes as well as working this perspective, foregrounds and backgrounds as well as trying to make a sense of scale, so that these creatures look bigger then their normal animal counterparts. It also allowed me to practice with different animal anatomy and how to position them to fit the pieces they were in. At a certain point ideas appeared in my head to change my theme. I was just originally doing real life environment rather than fantasy, but that changed because I wanted to experiment and be creative with the location I created. This allowed me to not be restricted by reality and try my hand at being creative and experimental. This led to all of the pieces that I am proud of and I can say for certainty that I had a lot of fun with this project.

Height: 12 in
Width: 9 in
Materials: Pencil, Mechanical Pencil, Eraser
Processes: So I knew what I wanted for this first piece. With this being my first one I sketched the line art for the snake first. The clouds came in second and mapped out where the shadows would go. Then I darkened the lines and shaded for the final piece.

Height: 12 in
Width: 9 in
Materials: Pencil, Mechanical Pencil, Eraser
Processes: For this one I started a one point perspective sketch to know where the vanishing point is. Then I sketch out the building, experimenting with the building height. Then I did a sketch of the lines for the worm and the breaking bricks and roads. Darken the lines then shade for the final step.

Height: 12 in
Width: 9 in
Materials: Pencil, Mechanical Pencil, Eraser
Processes: For this one I drew the Jellyfish first and for most, getting the shape and size of it. Then I came up with the creator after and drew it around the jellyfish. Once I came up with the coral creator I then darkened the lines then shaded the final piece.

Height: 12 in
Width: 9 in
Materials: Pencil, Mechanical Pencil, Eraser
Processes: I knew what I wanted this piece to be both the environment and the creature. I first drew a very light sketch of the valley and then started the sketch of the centipede. The texture of the valley was decided near the end of the piece and I then added the floating part after the centipede was mostly completed.

Height: 12 in
Width: 9 in
Materials: Pencil, Mechanical Pencil, Eraser
Processes: With this I started with the environment first and adding a center place where the creature would be. The beetle was sketched out, I kinda did a fusion of multiple beetles just so I would be more interesting and hopefully stand out. The shading was last.
Image 7
Height: 12 in
Width: 9 in
Materials: Pencil, Mechanical Pencil, Eraser
Processes: This was a random sketch of the environment and I had no idea where I wanted to go with it. As the sketch went on I then came up with the idea of having a stone spider later on. I decided to have the spider similar to the environment deliberately. This was the shift of my portfolio, from real life environment, to more fantasy environment.

Height: 12 in
Width: 9 in
Materials: Pencil, Mechanical Pencil, Eraser
Processes: This was the next piece was after the shift in my portfolio theme. So I decided to go all out with the environment. Making the scorpion wasn't too difficult and I decided to then add fur to the tail for some variety, making a little part of the detail. The shading was last.
Image 9
Height: 12 in
Width: 9 in
Materials: Pencil, Mechanical Pencil, Eraser
Processes: This was one of my first art pieces that I worked on and I already had an idea. I drew up a few practice sketches of a tortoise. Once I finally was happy with the sketches I then stared at the mountain on the back of it as well as the mountains in the background. Once that was done I started with the shading and details on the creature itself to get the finished piece.

Height: 12 in
Width: 9 in
Materials: Pencil, Mechanical Pencil, Eraser
Processes: With this one I had no idea what I wanted, so I drew one line and then it evolved into this environment. Pillars of metal and a center platform in the middle. I then wanted a manta ray since it was my favorite fish so I wanted it to look good. So I started with different practice sketches to get the pose and shape right. Once I got the big one drawn I felt it was missing something so I then drew little pup manta rays to add some variety.

Height: 9 in
Width: 12 in
Materials: Pencil, Mechanical Pencil, Eraser
Processes: This art piece started with the bridge and the shading, the one thing standing in my way was the creature that I wanted. I kept on thinking then I figured it out to do an angler-fish. I then came up with the idea to do multiple so I could fill up more negative space. Then the shading was the last step.

Height: 9 in
Width: 12 in
Materials: Pencil, Mechanical Pencil, Eraser
Processes: With this one I wanted to tell a small story, a graveyard being guarded by a creature. So I started off with the hands and the background first making sure that they looked proportional. Once that was done I then worked on the octopus and positioned it so it would suround each hand it a way. Then shading was the last step.
