Vol. 1 Issue 4 - November 6, 2020
The Grading period for our K-8 school has been extended based on our slow start with Edgenuity. Our teachers will be working through the end of the month to update grades for all students. You can expect to see updated and current grades by the end of the month and access report cards via Parent Vue on 10/30/2020.
Please keep in mind these are the first grades students have earned since March. This is a baby step into acclimating to rigorous academics and school routines.
We will be offering workshops for families to better navigate the this virtual learning environment. We will be hosting periodic Dragon Lair Cafes where we open up conversations with families focused on successful strategies for at home learning. This week, our Dragon Lair Cafe will focus on Go Guardian.
Tuesday , October 20th at 6PM. Visit our website calendar for the link to the YouTube live session.
Educational Technology has launched the GoGuardian Parent. GoGuardian Parent is an application available on devices running iOS and Android designed to enable IT Administrators to share managed user history collected via GoGuardian Admin and GoGuardian Teacher with verified parents and guardians. GoGuardian Parent provides Parents and Guardians with the ability to pause their children's internet, block specific websites, and schedule internet availability on managed Chromebook devices (does not work with iPads).
Our workshop will focus on how parents can use the information gleaned from the GoGuardian Parent app to support their learner/s. We will spend the majority of the hour in an open forum taking general questions and discussing general success strategies. If you have specific questions about your student, please direct those to your student's teacher. As teachers develop their classroom strategies for the use of this tool, they will post policies and expectations on their classroom website.
Visit the link below to learn more and/or install the application.
Immunization Information:
Because eCademy is a public school, the New Mexico Department of Health requires that students be fully up-to-date on their immunizations or have a current, approved exemption form on file. Please ensure that your child's immunizations are up-to-date and that you have uploaded or submitted the appropriate record to the school nurse. Nurse Dina, with assistance from district health assistants, Renee Villanueva and Margaret Stamp, have been contacting parents by phone and via synergy mail to provide assistance with this process. Thank you parents and guardians for responding to our requests and allowing us to assist you. Now is the perfect time to make an appointment for your child to receive school required vaccines and the flu vaccine, which is optional but highly recommended.
Please continue to contact me for assistance and to send immunization records and approved exemption forms to: ward_d@aps.edu. I can be reached by telephone at 505-344-1482 ext. 3.

Teachers will be working on their website, and on a communication plan, which will be posted on their website. We understand mutual communication can be a great challenge in a completely virtual environment, but it is a critical element in finding educational success for your children. To that end, we want to be sure families know where they can look to find each of their teacher’s communication plan, so it doesn’t become a bigger barrier. Please continue to look for these updates, teachers are making these additions each day.
Additionally, we know reaching the office and a live person has been far more difficult than it should be, so we have been working diligently to ensure families are able to reach the school staff needed. The main office number and office staff emails are as follows:
