On March 2020, a mandatory quarantine was order by NM Governor Michelle Grisham Lujan. As a result, schools were closed and families had to remain home to maintain social distancing with the objective of flattening the curve for the spread of the Covid 19. Meanwhile, Hayes Middle School students and families experienced a great deal of challenges for the following areas: distance learning, food, clothing, housing and loss of employment among others issues. A decision was made to coordinate a community school council to help us prepare for the summer and the school year 2020-2021. This project has as a mission to engage our school partners to decrease the amount of setbacks for our students and families related with distance learning and socio emotional supports.
