I'm Mrs. Del Aguila, and I have been with APS for 11 years. Teaching is my passion. I believe in building relationships and teaching students to be life long learners that will lead them to success. I have taken on key leadership roles at Harrison Middle School, Hayes Middle School, and eCADEMY K8, serving as Department Chair, Grade Level Lead, and Instructional Council Representative. Dedicated to fostering student success, I integrate innovative teaching strategies, culturally responsive instruction, and inquiry-based learning to create engaging and meaningful educational experiences. Beyond the classroom, I actively contribute to education initiatives with the New Mexico Public Education Department, including speaking at professional developments and reviewing highly qualified instructional materials for Social Studies and Health. I am a National Board for Professional Teaching Standards teacher in Social Studies for Early Adolescents and Youth Adulthood. I am committed to continual growth and making a lasting positive impact on students and the community.
Personal Finance (High School)
This course provides students with the fundamental knowledge and skills necessary to make informed financial decisions throughout their lives. Students will learn about personal finance topics such as goal setting and decision making, career planning, money management, and banking and credit. Through a variety of engaging activities, projects, and real-world simulations, students will develop the confidence and competence to navigate the financial landscape and achieve their financial goals.
This course is designed to be relevant and engaging for all students, regardless of their future plans. The knowledge and skills gained in this course will empower students to make sound financial decisions and achieve financial well-being.
Collaborative/INQUIRY Based Classroom
Collaborative learning- We work together to achieve a common goal. This involved shared efforts in areas like problem solving, creating projects, civil discourse, and discussing ideas. In this setting students are more engaged and have an effect learning environment where they take ownership of their learning and learn from others. Students develop social and critical thinking skills, learn diverse perspectives, and deepen their understanding of the content.
Inquiry based- In our classroom, we are engaged to make real-world connections through exploration and high-level questioning. Students are encouraged to be curious, research, make connections, and present their findings. There is student choice and ownership, promoting critical thinking, reflection, and fosters deeper understanding.
