1. Be on time and in your assigned seat, ready to work, as soon as you come in. Remain working throughout the period until I dismiss you. If you are late, not working, or are disruptive during class, you will be assigned lunch detention, will receive a written referral, or will be escorted to the office, depending on the severity of your disruption.
2. Be prepared for class. Bring class supplies, binder, textbook, and completed homework to class every day. This means do NOT ask to go get materials from lockers when the class has already started.
3. No prohibited materials in the classroom (personal electronic devices, food, drink, gum, hats, headphones, etc.). Electronic devices are distracting to the learning environment and food and drink can be dangerous in a laboratory situation (you may have bottled beverage, with a lid on days when we do not have a lab). You will be asked to throw out your gum. Prohibited items will be confiscated and given back at the end of the school day. Repeated infractions will result in the item being confiscated and given to an administrator. A parent must then be present to retrieve the item. (Personal electronic devices may be in your possession, but are to be put away and should be turned off during class time). It is your responsibility to keep your PED’s put away in a safe place as security will not come into the classroom to search for missing electronics, nor am I allowed to search personal property without permission. CHS is not responsible for damaged, lost or stolen items.
4. Disruptive behavior and profanity will not be tolerated.
5. Students must be respectful and considerate of all living things. This includes classmates, teacher, substitute teachers, guest speakers, specimens, classroom animals and plants.
6. Follow all lab safety rules and procedures.
All students will follow the behavior and discipline policies outlined in the Cibola High School Agenda. Failure to comply with classroom rules and expectations will result in disciplinary action including, but not limited to loss of credit, verbal warning, parent contact, parent/teacher conference, lunch detention, and administrative referral.
7. Plagiarism, cheating, and academic integrity violations will result in immediate disciplinary action and loss of credit. Students directly copying material from the internet or other students will result in loss of credit and an automatic disciplinary referral. This is NOT limited to just copying offenders. Students caught allowing other students to copy their work will also result in disciplinary action including, but not limited to loss of credit, verbal warning, parent contact, parent/teacher conference, lunch detention and administrative referral.
