To guide my sustained investigation I wanted to focus on colors mostly. Starting with monochrome paintings I quickly diverged off to more colorful pieces, 3D pieces, and new mediums. Trying to keep loose around a theme of nature, I started making the inclusion subtle and in a few cases abstract. Inspiration came around in waves of boredom, because for me boredom leads to thinking, and thinking brings me new ideas for painting and mini story building. Every piece has at least a little story or character build behind them, to keep myself immersed in the creation. I noticed I tend to gravitate towards greens and pinks in the set of artworks, no clue why but I just have.
Throughout this process I played around with a lot of stuff, from 3D additions to artworks, watercolor, gouache paints, experimenting with tone and hugh of a color. I didn't make many revisions, but on the piece ‘ On with the wind’ I did go over the background around 8 times before settling on what we have, and ‘cloud mermaids’ was a revision from a piece I made last year. I wanted to See how far I could go with my limits, attempting perspective, monochrome pieces, and very large pieces. I really pushed myself this year and I think my efforts show in my work now.

Height: 16 in
Width: 20 in
Materials: Acrylic paints
Processes: I stared with painting the shy and mountains in the background so I wouldn't have to work around the foreground later. After that I slowly start blocking in the grass and tree trunks. Starting from flat colors and working my way slowly into details really helped make this piece feel alive. Lastly I painted in the characters and the bunnies to add a little flavor to the middle of the painting.

Height: 16 in
Width: 12 in
Materials: Acrylic paints
Processes: I practiced my grass on some separate canvas to see if I liked it then I jumped in. Starting with blocking in the flat lines of color, gradienting from dark to light. I go over the lines with the color before and after it to add depth and shading. Lastly i dotted cartoonish little flowers and bees to draw the eye aroudnd the piece

Height: 12 in
Width: 9 in
Materials: Acrylic paints
Processes: I didn't really have a plan for this piece, I just knew I wanted to use something other than green. I wanted to try making a character with one color and playing with the tones and values. Her hair and hat are really dark while her body and backgrounf are really light. At the end I added blue and yellow as a hilight/ pop of intresting color in some places.

Height: 10 in
Width: 8 in
Materials: Acrylic paints
Processes: I have mixed feelings about this piece. Sometimes I like it and other times i get confused with what I'm seeing. I think the character looks great, but the background I could never decide on. Its been added, and simplified so much that at some point I knew I just had to leave it be

Height: 6 in
Width: 8 in
Materials: Alcohol marker, gel pen
Processes: A new material! I started this one by taping my paper to get a neat white edge. Once all taped up I covered the whole page in a layer of light blue marker. One that dried a little I used the same marker to draw little blob shapes all over the place. Putting smaller blobs connecting them really helps. After that I used my white gel pen to add mimic the blue lines, adding them slightly above the blue ones to add a little depth. Lastly I brought some shiny highlights to the water blobs to add some spice.

Height: 14 in
Width: 11 in
Materials: Acrylic paint, felt, fake flowers, paper, sticks
Processes: This is my most complicate piece so far. Starting with a very simple under painting I feel confident there are no awkward blank gaps under everything. While that was drying i went out to buy some fake flowers. I wish I found smaller flowers but I still think it works. After arranging and gluing my flowers I took a quick adventure to my backyard to find the perfect sticks to attack on top. Once stick antlers were glued on I added some origami butterflies around the painting to hide any little mistakes. Her fawn ear thing is just a piece of painted felt that I layered with paper and glued on.

Height: 8 in
Width: 6 in
Materials: Gouache
Processes: I made a smaller version of this painting from a youtube tutorial, as practice. I wanted to push my skills and see if i could make a peice much larger then the little one, so I did. Trying to remember my skills from the video I slap on the far treeline first, then make the bumpy forest path with flowers.

Height: 8 in
Width: 6 in
Materials: Acrylic paints
Processes: This is definitely not a peice I thought i would inclde here but here we are. This piece started with the slow process of layering some neon paints on the background and over some blank sections the drawings. Then I began the strange process of using solid colors to add little areas of interest all over the place. Using my posca markers i dragged some of the colors to the left of the piece for that static, glitchy look.

Height: 8 in
Width: 8 in
Materials: Watercolor, colored pencils, gel pen
Processes: I started as normal, blocking in all my flat colors and making sure I know what I'm looking at. I mostly completed the character then brought some then blue over certian parts that would be under the water surface, adding depth and pushing those parts back. Then I touched up the remaining water, added a few fish swimming around and finally used my colored pencil to line the piece, using a blue pencil for anything in the water. Highlights with my gel pen were the last step for this piece, gotta add that shine.

Width: 4.5 inch
Materials: Pencil, watercolor, paper flowers
Processes: Starting with a sketch of a character on some toned paper, i added highlight and contrast with my white watercolor. I had been hording these little paper flowers for a while and decided to glue them on after the fact.

Height: 8 cm
Width: 6 inch
Materials: pencil
Processes: This page was just my plans for one of my other paintings. I like to have good groundwork on a piece before i really felt started, and planning the character felt important.
Image 12
Height: 8 cm
Width: 6 inch
Materials: left- Alcohol marker, gel pen Right- colored pencil, graphite, alcohol marker
Processes: The left page were an expierement to see if Gradients and other odd colors would work and could be seen as water. The right is just a character I can use at any time for anything, I had the idea and i needed to get it out.
Image 13
Height: 8 in
Width: 6 in
Materials: Acrylic paint
Processes: As usual I started with a mini sketch in my sketchbook to plan my idea. Moving that sketch onto a canvas panel I started to block in the colors. After several days of procrastinating I got back to work adding details. Lastly the background is just a simple color with some blocks of white to break up the shape

Height: 3.5 in
Width: 5.5 in
Materials: watercolor, gel pen, colored pencil
Processes: These two drawings were done around a year apart. The top drawing was done in 2022, and the bottom image in 2023. They started the same way, sketch then watercolor on top of that, tho this year I feel I did a much better job with separating the tones and setting a nicer composition of the piece.
Image 15
Height: 14 in
Width: 11 in
Materials: Acrylic paint
Processes:After many composition attempts settled on the grouping of 3 characters. Its not actually me, just how i tend to draw myself so i had fun with this. Actually starting with the background, i worked from the bottom to the top, ending on the character with the striped sweater.
