About Mrs. Young

Mrs. Young has been our fearless leader since August 2013! She is a native New Mexican and has lived in Albuquerque all of her life. She graduated from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor of Music Education in 2013.  She earned her Masters in Music Education from The University of New Mexico in 2023! She also is a Nationally Board Certified Teacher as of 2025.

At Atrisco, Mrs. Young teaches marching band, concert band, jazz band, and beginning band. 

"I love working at Atrisco Heritage and watching the band program grow! There are special students here that I get to work with everyday, and I feel that I am very lucky!"

Besides spending most of her time with the Jaguar Pride Band, Mrs. Young enjoys going to movies with her husband (a fellow musician), as well as playing with her cats!
