  • How can we celebrate my child's birthday in your class?
    • Light snacks! Cupcakes, cookies, fruit snacks, juice boxes- things that don't have to be cut/prepared and can be eaten in less than 15/20 minutes. Please bring your snacks first thing in the morning! Birthday snacks will be served during lunch time. Want me to take pictures for you? Just let me know!
  • Will you pass out these birthday invitations to only these certain students for me?
    • Sorry, but I cannot. The only way I can pass out any sort of invitations for your child is if everyone is invited. And please be patient with me if they do not go out on the exact day you ask and gently remind me if I have not passed them out in a day or so (even teachers forget things sometimes).
  • If you cannot pass the birthday invitations out to only certain students then can my child do this at lunch/recess/before or after school?
    • Again, no. Please keep in mind the students who will not get invited. Finding out your friend was invited to the party but you weren't can hurt their feelings- something none of us want. If you do want to only invite certain students I recommend getting in contact with other parents (sharing phone numbers or addresses) and doing it that way.
  • Can my child bring toys to school?
    • Nope, sorry but no toys allowed and that includes fidget spinner. Exceptions are if the student has an IEP that specifies they need a toy/tool in class to help them succeed, if I have deemed a toy/tool appropriate for your child to help them succeed, or if they have earned it as a reward.
  • How can I know how my child is doing in class?
    • A few ways! You can always meet with me and discuss it. I will be sending out progress reports every few weeks (again- patience since some weeks are easier to sit and assess each child than others) that will let you know how your child is doing on academics and behavior. I am also available through Remind and email (reina.archuleta@aps.edu). Parent teacher conferences are also held twice a year and I encourage every family to attend these as it is a wonderful time to sit and discuss the progress your child has made.
  • What testing happens in 2nd grade?
    • Every year is different in regards to state mandated testing procedures. Currently students are tested on IStation which tests them on their reading ability. Second grade does not take the PARCC test.
  • What testing happens in 3rd grade?
    • Currently third grade students are tested with the PARCC test, which assesses both reading and math. This test happens in the spring.
