Connie Adkins is an Albuquerque native, who grew up not very far from Albuquerque High School. She graduated with Magna cum Laude and Summa cum Laude in General Honors from the University of New Mexico, with a Bachelors of Science, and a Masters of Science in Curriculum and Instruction from Western Governors University. She is a member of Phi Betta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi and Golden Key National Honor Societies. Ms. Adkins has been a science teacher since 2000, having taught at Wilson Middle School previously to teaching at Albuquerque High School. Teaching was a second career for Ms. Adkins, as she was a legal assistant prior to entering the education field and is a trained archaeologist. Being the daughter of two teachers who became principals, she always felt a call to education and youth and has spent several years as both a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader. Ms. Adkins is a certified online instructor and loves science, technology and gadgets! At Albuquerque High School, she is the co-sponsor Crafty Dawgs and International Thespian Troupe 1775. She is also the Safe Zone Coordinator for Albuquerque High School, Co-Chair of the Science Department, and Instructional Council Chair. She is married to Mr. Adkins (the drama teacher), and together they have five children, a granddaughter, several cats and a dog.
