We will be using SAVVAS My View as our core ELA curriculum this school year. Each unit has an essential question, that will be the focus for 6 weeks. In the 6th week students will take what they've learned and apply it, in a project based inquiry

Imagine That!

In this unit we will be introduced to all things make believe including: Folktales, Fairytales, Fables and Poetry.

How can we use our imaginations?

Writing is hard!

If your student has said this, you are not alone! In first grade students are expected to write a full paragraph independantly! Worry not parents it is possible.The best way to help your student is to encourage them to write what they hear. It is ok if it is not spelled correctly, as long as they are trying. Some other important reminders you can give them are on the rubric below.
