Mr Sayre is the current Band teacher at Tres Volcanes Community Collaborative School and has been involved in music education for over 19 years in New Mexico. At Tres Volcanes he is the director of the Beginning Band, Intermediate Band, Advanced Band, and the Jazz Band.
Mr Sayre graduated from the University of New Mexico with a degree in Music Education where he played tuba in the Symphonic Band, Wind Symphony, Spirit Marching Band, and Tuba Studio. Before teaching at Tres Volcanes Mr Sayre was the Head Band Director at Las Cruces High School where the bands and symphony orchestra received consistent superior ratings at Music Performance Assessment and NMAA State Competitions. Before that he was an Associate Director at Los Lunas Public Schools for the East Side Band Program at Valencia High School, Valencia Middle School, Peralta Elementary, Bosque Farms Elementary, and Valencia Elementary. Where the bands received many Superior ratings including a NMAA State Concert Band Championships for each the Middle School and High School.
Mr Sayre is the recipient of the 2016 "New and Emerging Music Educator of the Year" award through the New Mexico Music Educators Association. He has been the Co-Chair for the NMMEA Symphonic Band for 12 straight years and was the NMMEA District 1 Band Vice President in 2017. He has been involved in starting and planning multiple marching band events including starting the Valencia Classic marching band adjudication festival.
Currently Mr Sayre is the Vice President for Middle School band for the District 7 New Mexico Music Educators association, the Facilitator of the APS District Fine Arts Instructional Council, and in addition to working at Tres Volcanes the Assistant Band Director at Cibola High School.
