What is the Watauga Neighbors' Network?

Responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Watauga Neighbors’ Network (WNN) is a collaborative effort of local organizations and individuals to strengthen our community in times of need. We are working on needs matching as a way to make sure that folks in our community have the resources they need during this crisis.

WNN functions as a facilitating platform for community members to document their needs, as well as skills individuals have to offer. Functioning as a collective of resources, the Neighbors’ Network will be able to identify how our community is specifically impacted by this crisis, so we can prepare for the lifestyle changes we are all facing as a result.

Who Are We?

While we are constantly seeking broader involvement and collaboration, we are primarily a group of students at Appalachian State University who have been working for the past few years to create healthier communities in Boone. Through the Appalachian Climate Action Collaborative, we have been fighting for the rights of Wataugans and working to build a strong community. We are also supported by and work with Transition Blue Ridge, and could not do this work without the many great non-profits and other organizations in Watauga County and beyond.
