Welcome to my webpage! I am Vicente Handa, Associate Professor in the Department of  Learning, Teaching, and Curriculum at the Reich College of Education at Appalachian State University.   I  have been a teacher educator for the past 27 years. My research interests revolve around science education, focusing on the sociocultural dimension of preservice science teacher preparation, emphasizing service learning,  culture-based education, indigenous/local knowledge, social and ecological justice issues, funds of knowledge, and community-centered and place-based science teaching practices.
