Absolutely! There are no prerequisites. All are welcome. All classes, lectures, readings, and trainings will be in English or translated into English.
The dates for the entire course are June 10-July 15, 2026. We will meet over Zoom before and after our travel as a required part of the course.
We will leave as a group from Charlotte Airport departing June 20th and leaving Tokyo on July 11th.
This program includes two 3-credit classes. These 6 credits qualify the student as "full time" in the summer- possibly making you eligible for financial aid.
I am working with the Office of International Programs to find additional funding. You can also contact Dara Carney-Nedelman (carneyndk@appstate.edu) at the office of Nationally Competitive Scholarships.
Included in the program is a "Suica" travel card which is good for all trains and metro lines in Tokyo.
We will have a very full schedule during our three weeks. On the weekends we will be visiting cultural sites. This may not leave much time for extra travel in Japan.
