Welcome to the Sports Nutrition and Performance Laboratory (SNAP) in the Department of Public Health and Exercise Science at Appalachian State University!
Founded in 2024, our laboratory investigates the impact of dietary interventions on sports performance, recovery, and blood biomarkers in athletes and women, focusing on targeted nutritional strategies to enhance endurance, strength, and overall health. By exploring the intersection of physiological assessments and nutritional interventions, we aim to optimize performance through evidence-based approaches, including nutrient timing, ergogenic aids, hormonal influences on metabolism, and preventative nutrition. Through metabolic exercise testing, we provide actionable insights to support the health and performance needs of active populations, with a particular focus on women's health. Our approach emphasizes strategies that enhance both immediate performance and long-term well-being, addressing the unique physiological considerations of trained individuals and women across all life stages.
