I'm a Professor of Library Science at Appalachian State University, Program Director, and author of the book, Using Literature to Support Children’s Mental Health. As a teacher, I focus on school and general librarianship, and research and capstone experiences. As a researcher, my interests lie in visual representations of information for youth as well as issues of intellectual freedom. My research has been published in journals such as Library Quarterly, Journal of Education for Library and Information Science, Knowledge Organization, and School Libraries Worldwide. I hold a Ph.D in Curriculum Studies from Indiana University.
