Undergraduates who are interested in helping in the lab for Research Assistant Credit (PSY 4001) should fill out the research assistant application form. Students signing up for PSY 4001 are required to spend time in the lab, and do a variety of tasks including testing research participants, coding data, and assisting with recruiting events. Please be aware that the lab is not on the main campus; it is located in University Hall.
Deadlines for applications are 4/15 (for Fall Semester) and 11/15 (for Spring Semester). Pending availability, qualified students will be contacted for an interview after the application deadline. Decisions are typically made by the last day of classes, at which time students may register for PSY 4001 for the following semester.
If you are considering doing an Honors Thesis with Dr. Emery, you are encouraged to fill out her Honors Thesis Interest Form as early as possible. Most thesis students spend at least one semester as an RA before starting their thesis, though there are some exceptions depending on the student and the intended topic. This means that you should initiate contact in your first semester of your Junior year in order to have the best chance at securing a "spot". To see some of the thesis topics that our students have worked on, see this list on NCDocks
Dr. Emery primarily mentors graduate students in the Master's program in Psychological Science. To learn more information about the program, visit the program website. You may also email Dr. Emery directly to learn more about the lab and whether she is taking students in the coming year.
Please note that at this time, I am only accepting graduate students who wish to do research about memory.
