The Tater Hill Plant Preserve

My deep love and interest in Southern Appalachian biodiversity motivates me to volunteer as the steward for the Tater Hill Plant Preserve. This ~1600 acre preserve is managed to protect and study rare and threatened plant species within the state of North Carolina. Due to the sensitive nature of the site it is closed to the public, except through guided tours.

Under the direction of the North Carolina Department of Agriculture - Plant Conservation Program, my students and I work to document plant species on the preserve, monitor populations of rare species, and conduct educational outreach activities to introduce the public to plant conservation and our state's natural treasures.

Interested in a tour? Need a service learning activity for your group? Please contact me at my university e-mail with your groups interest and I will work to schedule a hike or workday. We prefer small groups (<15) to limit the impact on the preserve.
