I am an Assistant Professor of Mathematics Education at Appalachian State University. As a teacher-scholar, my aim is to spark interest, excitement, and joy in and around mathematics through teaching and research so that students may become more competently confident mathematicians and teachers of mathematics. My scholarship includes exploring non-traditional areas of mathematics like recreational mathematics, teaching mathematics in social justice contexts, and mathematics as it relates to authentic teaching and learning practices. I also look more generally at learning spaces and how they impact students' experiences with teaching and learning experiences.
