Cameron Pittman is a first-year Master of Social Work student at Appalachian State University, where she also earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology. A resident of the High Country for nearly a decade, Cameron has developed strong connections within the local community. She brings over ten years of experience working directly with community members, most recently in medical settings.
Cameron’s academic and professional interests include the ethical treatment of minors in residential psychiatric care, the intersection and challenges of accommodating both physical and psychiatric disabilities, and improving representation for autistic researchers studying Autism Spectrum Disorder. Committed to supporting others, she serves as a mentor in Appalachian State’s As-U-R program through Student Success, providing personalized support directly to students navigating executive functioning challenges in their academic and personal lives. Currently, Cameron is completing an internship with the Community Care Clinic, where she is actively working to improve healthcare access for underserved populations in the High Country.
Cameron is passionate about exploring how collaboration between Public Health and Social Work can foster a more inclusive and supportive community for vulnerable populations. She looks forward to contributing to meaningful change in her field and beyond!
