A.J. Britton is a first-year Master of Social Work student at Appalachian State University. A.J. earned a Bachelor of Science in Family, Youth and Community Sciences at the University of Florida in 2020 with minors in Non-profit Organizational Leadership and Educational Studies. In the years between his undergraduate and beginning his MSW program, A.J. was a high school science teacher, particularly enjoying teaching Physics and Chemistry.
A.J. has a strong passion for advocating for underserved populations. He began his MSW with a focus on children and families involved in the foster care system. As he progressed through the program, A.J.'s desire to serve all populations in rural Appalachia has grown tremendously, and he is thankful for the opportunity to serve individuals in late adulthood through his role as a GA in the Older Adult Mental Health Initiative.
In addition to his professional passions and aspirations, A.J. enjoys intricate board games with friends, nature walks with his wife, and preparing for his little one on the way!
