Dr. Alex McAllister

About 

Dr. McAllister is Professor of Library Science at Appalachian State University. He worked for 10 years as an academic librarian at App State's University Libraries serving as Humanities Librarian and Coordinator of Collection Management. Prior to that position, he worked as a community college librarian and in the North Carolina Room of the New Hanover County Public Library. He earned his Doctor of Education from App State in 2021. He holds a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication from UNC-Chapel Hill, and received an MM in Music History as well as his Master of Library and Information Science degree from the University of South Carolina - Columbia. Dr. McAllister's research interests include issues in collection management, leadership, and poststructuralism. In his free time, he enjoys playing in an adult soccer league in Boone. He also plays guitar and loves all things Star Wars! He currently lives in Boone with his wife, Stacy, and their two daughters.
