Counseling

Mission

The mission of the George Middle School Counseling Program is to inspire all students to exceed/reach their academic, career, and personal/social potential, and in doing so, become successful college and career ready, transformative global citizens.  In order to realize our vision we will aim to create anti-racist, anti-biased, intersectional, and transformative affirming community and space accessible for all students that centers student voice and supportive relationships. All students will have equal access to the George Middle School Counseling Program, that provides developmentally appropriate activities and include individual and small group counseling and classroom lessons. In addition, students will be treated equitably, with fairness, justice, and respect by staff.

Vision

Students at George Middle School are lifelong learners who leave George with a strong sense of self and connection to their school community and community at large. George students celebrate racial, ethnic, ability and gender diversity in the community. All students participate in a comprehensive school counseling program that emphasizes antiracism, inclusivity, conflict resolution, coping strategies and academic planning. George students use their lived experiences, self-advocacy skills and unique perspectives to succeed in high school and beyond, and affect positive change in their community.
