Mr.  Jason Owens, has been a music educator with Portland Public Schools for 23 years.  In 2008, he received the Outstanding Music Educator Mr. Holland’s Opus Award in New York City’s Carnegie Hall for his work.  He has had both choral and instrumental ensembles that have received superior ratings in district festivals and he has received high praise for his musical direction.  His latest musicals include, The Pirates of Penzance, Guys and Dolls, Oliver, Working, Anything Goes, and Bye Bye Birdie, The Adams Family, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and Mamma Mia.  Jason holds both a Bachelor of Science in Music and a Masters in Education from Portland State University.

Philosophy 

Music study and performance is a gift.  Through music we learn so much about ourselves and others around us.  We all love music in some form and have a duty to continue the rich history and tradition of music study and performance in our community and our lives.
