Welcome!

I have been teaching with South Suburban ABE since 2014. I have a Bachelor’s of Science degree from the University of IL and Masters of Education from the University of MN. I have taught many years of middle school and high school science. I am very excited to partner with you on your journey towards a GED or college!

Since we have so much material to cover we organize the Language Arts class around themes and integrate science and social studies in our reading and writing and math.

Today’s expectations for the GED test and college readiness demand critical thinking and problem solving skills. We will be thinking and problem solving every day, but hopefully it will be so fun and interactive that you don’t even realize how much you are learning!!! You are preparing for the GED, college or career, but you are learning many other life skills along the way!

Look around; we are all on this journey together. I may be your guide, but you will learn just as much from your classmates as you will from me. Embrace this challenge and this opportunity. You have made a great step by coming to class today and taking charge of your life, your learning and your opportunities!

Expectations:

Attendance should be at least 80%, which means about 4/5 days a week.

Always try your BEST!

Respect others and the classroom!

Grading: I do not post grades! I rarely give tests! However, if I did post grades each and every one of you would earn an A+ grade. We work until we get it right! We ALWAYS do A+ work!

Conferencing: I will conference with you at least once a month to review goals and determine how the class is working for you.

Homework: I do assign homework to be completed each Friday.

Absences: If you know you will be absent from class, please let me know in advance! If you will miss unexpectedly, call or email in the morning.

Technology: We have computers available to us and we will use them often!
