This page contains professional development opportunities for paraprofessionals of any capacity. The sections below include resources for multiple aspects of your daily role.
Directions: The SCESC Preschool, Multipe Disabilities, and Behavioral intervention departments will utilize the Google Classroom to complete these activities, if you came here, go to your email to get your invitation or request a new one from your supervisor.
Districts may choose to snag the activities for their own Google Classrooms or just direct their staff to the activities below.
Technology
This is probably a good place to start! If you are asked to provide any support to your kiddos or to communicate with colleagues- there is somehting in here for you!
Several of the actitives below will end up with you having created something, others are just for the experience. We recommend you save those creations, and for those that are for the experience, summarize that experience on the activity page.
As you click on the Activity link, you will be prompted to make your own "copy" of the activity. This will be a Google doc you are able to not only summarize your activity on, but also keep notes if you wish. If you happen to close that page while working on the activity, it should be able to be found in your Google Drive, as a "recent" file from the toolbar on the left.
Autism
There are a ton of resources available through OCALI, all you need to do is set up a free account! Two main resources are the Autism Certification Center and the Autism Internet Modules.
Autism Certification Center
Activity: Set up an acccount and begin with the "Many Faces of Autism", then select the age range that most closely relates to your position and begin your PD journey! Be sure to download and save your certificate.
Autism Internet Modules
Set up an account and review the list of modules. These modules are meant to take much less time than the Certification series and do not require a passing score to move on to the next module. A mix of videos and text will provide additional resources on your chosen topic. Be sure to download and save your quiz results.
Lending Library
You can register, but at this time they are not shipping books. (3.28.20)
There are MANY books about autism available for lending.
Make sure to take notes or summarize what you read and have it in a google doc.
Additional OCALI Resources
There are many other resources specific to autism available through OCALI.

Best Practice
This is a collection of activities that incorporate many aspects of a paraprofessional's role in the success of a student. There are 10 modules from the Ohio Partnership for Excellence in Paraprofessional Preparation.
