In this piece, Nicole’s main focus is on her model Dominique, represented by two figures in the piece. In the two gesture drawings displayed in the piece, Nicole acknowledges how powerful black women are by portraying one the figures with her fist in the air and the other figure is of her model doing something she loves, writing. The figure writing has not face because the pose was the most important to Nicole. Nicole believes that people should get passed skin color and that people should focus on the qualities a person possesses inside. The purpose of the many figures in the background is to show how people sometimes blend in with the absurdity of society and people blend in like unspoken words. Nicole believes that’s those who feel shut down should speak up for what they believe in.
