Literary Awards

This year's much anticipated children's literary awards have been announced!! The Newbery medal is awarded to the author who has made the most distinguished contribution to children’s literature this year and the Caldecott award is given to the artist of the most distinguished children’s picture book of the year.

And the 2018 winners are...

John Newbery Medal

Hello, Universe by Erin Entrada Kelly (gr 3-7)

Randolph Caldecott Medal

Wolf in the Snow illustrated and written by Matthew Cordell (gr K-2)

Caldecott Honors:

Big Cat, Little Cat illustrated and written by Elisha Cooper

Crown: An Ode to the Fresh Cut illustrated by Gordon C. James and Written by Derrick Barnes (gr K-3)

A Different Pond illustrated by Thi Bui, written by Bao Phi (gr K-3)

Grand Canyon illustrated and written by Jason Chin (gr 3-5)
