Mr Green

Miss Dukes

Miss Wilford

Mrs Bloom

Dear New Year 7,

We are so happy that you are joining the Ricards family in September. We pride ourselves on providing you all with an excellent quality of education as well as the opportunity to develop the broader skills you will need to be successful in a changing world. We really hope that each and every one of you will take all the opportunities offered so that you all become a "successful woman of the future."

All four of us will be working closely with your Heads of Year and your teachers to help you settle quickly and make sure you all feel happy from the very first day as you begin your journey with us. It is important for us that all of you achieve in all your lessons and make the best progress in your studies.

We want all of you to join a club and take those leadership opportunities whenever they arise so that you develop the life skills that are invaluable in your future adult lives. The four of us will be there to provide any advice and support whenever you need it.

We wish you a lovely summer with your families.

Keep well and stay safe.

Mr Green, Miss Dukes, Miss Wilford and Mrs Bloom

Deputy Head of Year

Hello Year 7!

I am Miss Fowlin and I am very proud to be your Deputy Head of Year. We look forward to supporting you during your time here at Ricards, as well as offering you the very best education. At Ricards, we will do all we can to ensure that you have a smooth transition into Year 7, as you become a part of our school community. We believe that every student is an important individual and we aim to cater to the needs of all students, to ensure that every girl is able to achieve success. There are many opportunities here at Ricards, which will give you the chance to succeed, whatever your ability.

I look forward to meeting you in September.

Miss Fowlin

Transition Passport

Are you ready for a challenge and an opportunity to tell us all about yourselves? Perfect! Now is your chance.

Below is the Year 7 Transition Passport, full of fun activities all about you and the things which are important to you.

There is a digital version on Google Slides you can work directly into, or a booklet version you can print. Alternatively you can look at the contents and create your own version as a way of visually expressing yourself and your style. The most important thing is to enjoy the tasks, be creative and have fun!

In September you will have access to a Google Classroom for your tutor group, a great place where you can share your work with your tutor and chat to your tutor group. We will let you know how to access it at the beginning of term, so have your Transition Passport ready - your tutors will be very excited to see what you have done.

MFL (Modern Foreign Languages) Department

Salut les filles, Hola chicas

Let’s introduce you to the MFL teachers at Ricards Lodge.

Ms Mostefai Head of Department (French)
Miss N. Fowlin Deputy Head of Year 7 (Spanish and French)
Miss Mecheti (French and Spanish)
Miss Munoz -Vargas (Spanish and French)
Mr Clarke (German)
Miss Williams (Spanish and French)

We are so looking forward to meeting all of you in September.

In Year 7 , we are going to focus on you as a person, talking about your family, what you like to do in your spare time, what you enjoy at school and describe the area where you live, all this in your chosen language.

In the meantime, we have a challenge activity for you:

Maths Department

There are 11 mathematics teachers at Ricards that are eagerly waiting to teach you!

We don’t just learn in the classroom, we also take students to events and on trips, such as Disneyland Paris, Thorpe Park (see picture below) and Bletchley Park. There are so many wonderful women who have done amazing work with mathematics – This summer we would like you to research one (or more!) and make an A4 poster showing their accomplishments.

Quick Question: Can you solve this problem?

“I have a cage with cats and birds. There are 12 heads and 32 feet. How many birds are there?” Solutions and Poster to Mr Priestley in September when you come in!

We have put a Maths activity booklet in the post for you to work through over the holidays. This is a good way to keep you maths knowledge up to date. Please bring it to school with you in September.

Did you know?

During World War Two the Lodge building here at Ricards Lodge was used by a bank as they were evacuated from their Central London office!
