GATE Parent Meetings - March 25 & March 27. See flyer in Parent Information section for all the information!
Second Grade
All second grade students are screened for possible GATE identification during the fall of each school year using the CogAT Screener. Screening scores are reviewed to determine if taking the Post-screener (CogAT Full Battery) would be appropriate for each student. Multiple measures, including academic achievement, language acquisition, Lexile, standardized test scores, cognitive aptitude, along with parent and educator input, are analyzed following the Post-Screener to determine appropriateness of GATE services.
Grades 3 - 11
Students in grades 3 - 11 can be referred for possible GATE identification by a parent, guardian, or teacher through the Alternate Pathways to Identification process. The first step in this process is to contact your child's School Counselor. For a list of School Counselors, please click the link below.
Parents/guardians will be asked to complete a short form and will then attend a meeting with the student's counselor and teacher/s to determine if a CogAT assessment is recommended. If CogAT assessment is recommended, please click below for practice materials.
Generally, students will not be recommended for assessment two consecutive years.
