Dear Parents and Prospective Dancers:
First off, I would like to thank you for your interest in the Woodinville High School Dance Team. Starting a new program comes with its fair set of challenges, but the passion and excitement that your dancers bring to every practice is far more than enough to keep me going. It has been a long 15+ years since Woodinville has had a Dance Team, but we are back and ready to go! I believe that we will build a strong, respected, and reputable Dance Team at Woodinville through hard work, consistency and relentless support from dance families, staff and community members.
Dance has always been a huge part of my life since I started dancing at Allegro Dance Studios in Mukilteo at the age of two. I studied many styles at Allegro including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern and Hip-Hop while dancing recreationally and on their competition team. When I was a student at Kamiak High School, I was a member of the Kamiak Dulcineas Dance Team where I earned 4 Varsity Letters competing in Kick, Pom, Jazz and Lyrical. While in college at Washington State University, I put my passion to work and started teaching dance at a local studio where I taught ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary and hip hop. I also coached many of our competition groups that competed on the local and national level.
As a first year teacher at Woodinville, I have been so impressed with the love, support and spirit that fill our school and town. Since deciding to start the Dance Team, the outpouring of support and encouragement has been incredible. We are in an area where many schools have a long history of strong dance programs. These dancers and coaches have already done so much to make us feel included and help us start working on building a strong foundation for our program.
My high school dance career had such a profound impact on making me the woman that I am today, and I hope I will be able to bring a similar experience to your students.
Dancers: I can’t wait to watch you grow, push yourself, meet your new best friends and accomplish things that you never thought were possible.
Parents: Thank you in advance for the late nights rhinestoning, all the noisy drives to competitions, supporting your kiddos after a tough practice, and most importantly, trusting me with the responsibility of helping mold your kiddo into an amazing adult.
Thank you,
Audrey Woodard, Head Coach
