As a culminating project for fifth grade (after learning about keyword search strategies and website evaluation), students researched an environmental nonprofit and created a persuasive presentation to convince classmates to "vote" for their charity. Students took notes while listening to the presentations and then used pretend $100 bills to "donate" to the organization of their choice. Students did a great job and there were some hard decisions! The top nonprofit from each class received a $100 donation from Ms. Dunnewind: Oceana (Mrs. Edson and Mrs. Riach's classes) and the World Resources Institute (Mrs. Edson's class). Please see the presentations below for more information about the great work these nonprofits are doing!
Third grade classes used Book Creator to make digital books of their animal poems and collages (modeled on the artwork of author/illustrator Steve Jenkins).
Thank you to the Northshore Schools Foundation for a grant to purchase mini Sphero Robots so students can learn coding.
