• How can I put a book on hold?

  1. • You may add a hold when you are logged on to the library catalog. You can place up to two books on hold at a time. You may also fill out a white hold request slip (at the checkout counter) with your name, your teacher, and the title of the book. Place the completed slip in the blue basket found on the library checkout counter.

• How many books may I check out?

• Kindergarteners - 1 book

• 1st & 2nd grade - 2 books

• 3rd grades - 3 books

• 4th grade - 4 books

• 5th grade - 5 books

Unless a title is needed for a class project, Mrs. Barnett can override limits. If a book is overdue, no new books may be checked out until the overdue book is returned. Mrs. Barnett can make allowances under special circumstances.

• Can I request a book to be bought for the library?

  • • Can't find a book in the library, or Sunrise library does not have your favorite series to read? You can make a book request and Mrs. Barnett with purchase the book to add to our library. Please fill out a Book Request Form, which can be found at the checkout counter. Fill it in and post it into the blue ocean mailbox.

• What if I lose or damage a library book?

  • • If you lose a library book and are certain it is lost (they often show up several weeks later, so fear not, keep looking) you have several options:

1. Purchase an exact copy of the lost book (including the binding) at a bookstore or online and send it to Mrs. Barnett in the Library.

2. Pay for the title (save this as a LAST RESORT) see Barbara Cordray to pay. Once a book is paid for, refunding money, if the book is found, is very difficult. We cannot refund money after 6 months.

• How long can I keep a book?

  • • Books are checked out for two weeks at a time.

    • A book can be renewed twice as long as someone else doesn't have the book on hold.

• How can I become a Library Helper?

  • • 4th and 5th graders can be library helpers.

    • Library helpers are assigned at the beginning of the school year but opportunities are always available.

    • Ask Mrs. Barnett for a form to apply to be a library helper.

• May I use the library computers?

  • • The library computers are to be used for online catalog searches.

• Will I need my School2Home device during library time?

  • • On occasion, you will be asked to bring your device to work with them. Mrs. Barnett will let your teacher know ahead of time.

• May I bring food or drinks into the library?

  • • We ask that no food or drinks be brought into the library for the safety of all of the books, resources, and computers.
