Click below to make a copy of the application. This is a NEW and updated application from previous years. Students must track and record hours from community service hours, supervised by parents or community groups. Ideas for volunteer hours are on another page or posted on the Schoology group/newsletter.
Applications are accepted exclusively online via the google form. Since first semester grades must be included for your cumulative GPA, applications will only open for submissions after first semester grades are posted, in early February 2025. Applications are due by April 1st. ASB, GPA, and Discipline records will be verified. You must be logged into your NSD account to submit the application.
**Students must reapply to Honor Society EVERY YEAR. Just because you got in one year, does mean you automatically get in the following year.
ASB Dues: $40 Annual ASB Fee. Pay online here or in the main office.
GPA: 3.5 Cumulative GPA or higher after the first semester of the current school year. Cumulative GPA means all semesters at Skyview. Check StudentVUE for your cumulative GPA on the report card pdf. For example, 7th and 8th grade students need to average their GPA’s from ALL semesters attended at Skyview. 6th graders will use their first semester GPA. Cumulative GPA’s can be found on the semester report card. *Cumulative GPA’s can be found on your semester report card, which is viewable under “Report Card” on StudentVUE. Click "Report Card" > click blue banner at the top: "Click here to view report card for Semester 1 Final Mark" > Find Cumulative GPA at the bottom right of your Report Card. Please check with the registrar, Kris Staten, if you have any questions about your GPA.
10 Volunteer Hours (Page 2 of application): 10+ Hours of documented Community Service from June 1 - March 31. Community Service Hours are those which are done for others, for which no compensation (monetary or otherwise) has been given. The definition for Community Service Hours is as follows: Community Service Hours are those which are done for others, for which no compensation (monetary or otherwise) has been given. Service should benefit others outside of the immediate family unit and should not be regular household chores or responsibilities. At least one ½ Hour of 10 Required Volunteer Hours is a Service to School:
This can be any volunteering completed at Skyview, any Northshore School District school, or other school institution. Fun Friday NJHS EARN Days, WEB, ASB, and other volunteer after school activities count toward this requirement.
Personal Narrative Essay (Page 3 of application): 250-750 words.
Exemplary Citizenship: No detentions, Saturday schools, or suspensions. *Appeals for detentions ONLY can be made on a case-by-case basis with the administration. Written letters of appeal must be submitted by the last Friday in February. See Ms. Subcleff in F119 or Ms. Scott in the counseling office for more information. It is important to note that just because you submit an appeal, it does not automatically mean you will get into Honor Society.
