Retail Class

Work in The Den

Students can work in The Den by taking Retail Operations. Retail Operations is a hands-on course that provides students with an opportunity to manage and operate the student store and gain work experience in a “real” retail situation. Student employees are trained in customer service, retail sales, advertising and promotion, food preparation, purchasing and inventory control, record-keeping, stock maintenance, and the professional conduct vital in the working world.

In addition to operating and managing The Den, students learn about business and retailing through classroom lessons, activities and projects, and by completing Virtual Business Retailing, an online retail simulation that involves starting and managing a new virtual retail store.

Retail Operations is a CTE course and is a part of North Creek's Marketing Education program. For more information on North Creek's Marketing course offerings, click HERE.

Students who take Retail Operations are eligible to participate in DECA, a student organization that prepares emerging leaders for careers in business, marketing, hospitality, entrepreneurship, and finance. DECA students participate in regional, state, and international competitions.
