Citing Images from Governments & Collections
Example from a governmental agency
Images taken by a government agency (such as NASA or Congress) are considered to be in the public domain and free to use. Images should be credited when the information is available.
Example from a collectionÂ
Images in Digital Collections (such as the Library of Congress or the UW Special Collections) may be in the public domain if they are old enough (created before 1923). If the creators are known, they should be credited.
