About Ms. Andrews

Portrait of Ms. Andrews; photographer: Elizabeth Kathryn Photography.

Since 2011, I've had the privilege of living and teaching in Upstate New York, Arizona, and Washington. Previously, I've taught: middle school reading; middle and high school ELL; at-risk Freshmen English; on-level Sophomore English; and ELA in an alternative setting to at-risk students in grades 9-12. I've been with the Northshore School District since 2018 and love everything about being a Jaguar. Joining this amazing staff of caring and compassionate educators continues to be one of the best decisions I've made in my professional life.

I'm a strong advocate for individualizing skills mastery through: multi-modal, differentiated instruction; cooperative learning; alternative forms of assessment; standards-based grading; intentional, timely feedback; continued self-reflection; and mindful goal setting. I subscribe to the philosophy that if our students can't learn the way we teach, perhaps we should teach the way they learn.
