This week we are working on adding the suffix /-ing/ to words ending in the patterns VCe (trade, make, skate) and VVC (eat, mail, sail). We discovered that when adding /-ing/ to a VCe word, it follows an e-drop pattern--you drop the /e/ and add /-ing/--and when adding /-ing/ to a VVC word, you do nothing--the base word stays the same.
