Hello there! My name is Erica Mahoney. I have been teaching since 2005. Before working here, I taught 4th and 3rd grade gifted students at Open Window School in Bellevue for eight years. The start of my career was teaching 5th and 4th grade students on the other side of the country at Village School in Marblehead, Massachusetts for six years.
I was born in Pennsylvania, then lived in Tennessee, and then grew up in Oregon from 3rd grade through high school. After finishing my undergraduate degree in upstate New York at Skidmore College, I moved to Boston where I began teaching. While teaching, I earned my Master's Degree for Reading Specialist from Lesley University.
I have a wonderful family, who keeps me busy when I've not at school. My family includes my two daughters and husband. We have fun swimming, riding bikes, climbing trees, reading books, finding interesting insects on walks, and playing on the beach.
This year we are going to read about fascinating and crazy characters in books, write stories and poems, explore numbers in math, dive into science skills, and become a strong community. Get ready to have a fantastic 3rd grade year!
