We understand that some of these activities may require some help from you; however, we do not want you to stress over any of these activities. You can always use something from the “Online Games/Activities” tab instead of a posted lesson or activity.

Follow along with Mrs. Marquez as she leads a fun rhythm challenge! If you don't have colored paper, you can use any 4 objects to distinguish different spaces.

Dr. Seuss Rap- "Green Eggs and Ham"

In today's lesson, we talked about rhyming words, and how music and poetry are connected. Rap is another type of music that connects rhyming words with rhythm. You might know Dr. Seuss's "Green Eggs and Ham", but now listen to it rapped! Listen for rhyming words!


"Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" Go Noodle

Watch and dance along to "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" on Go Noodle. You will notice it is a song that is rapped!

Beat Sabers-

Monday, May 4 is Star Wars Day! May the Fourth be with you!

Watch the video on the left from Mrs. Lee and Mrs. Marquez for a "Beat Sabers" lesson on musical form. Then, grab something to use as a lightsaber, and play along!

Section A

  • This is the main Darth Vader theme you recognize. It has loud drums and brass instruments. Have a lightsaber battle!

Section B

  • This part gets much quieter. You'll hear some flutes, and notice that the drums disappear. March around your house!

Section A

  • You'll know "Section A" comes back when you hear the main loud drums and brass instruments come back. Have a lightsaber battle again

Optional Question: In the exit slip, let us know what you used as a lightsaber!

  • "La Raspa" Music Listening Activity

  • Tuesday, May 5 is Cinco de Mayo. Cinco de Mayo is a holiday held on May 5 which remembers and celebrates the Mexican Army's victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla, on May 5, 1862.

  • "La Raspa" is a folk song and dance from eastern Mexico.

  • In this lesson, you will a listen to the song and use your learning about tempo (fast & slow) and dynamics (loud & quiet) to answer the questions in this Google Form.




Activity 2-

  • Monday, May 4 is Star Wars Day! Check out this video on the left!

They are singing acapella, which means only with their voices (no instruments!) You might even recognize some of the singers or characters in the video.

  • Wednesday is International Dance Day! Help the chickens in the game complete the dance pattern, and as a challenge, dance along with them!

Follow the three steps below to complete your music learning for the week.

Step 1-

Music Lesson

Last week, we learned about Presto & Largo (Fast & Slow). This week we’re going to learn about high sounds and low sounds.


1. Watch the video lesson to the left to learn more about High & Low Sounds.


2. Then, follow along to the second video on the left to demonstrate your learning on High & Low sounds. The video will play a sound. Say if you hear a High or Low sound!

Activity 1-

Deteggtive Anderson: This is a play-along we have done at school. With this play-along, you are going to be playing when the detective is directly on top of the egg. Click on the video to the left, or click here to open in a new tab. You can do this activity several ways:

  • Find something around the house that you can use to keep a beat, like a pencil or spoon and choose which egg color you are going to follow- or you can choose to play on all of the colors!

OR...

  • Use body percussion! Think of a different movement for each different egg color. One idea is...

            • Blue: Clap

            • Red: Pat your knees

            • Yellow: Pat the floor

This is a great idea to do with someone else in your family!

Optional Question: Tell me in the Google Form what you used for your "instrument", or if you used "body percussion"!

Activity 2-

Repeat the directions from Activity 1, but this time, follow along to the bouncing bumblebee, and tap or clap when it lands on the flower!

This week we’re going to explore Google Chrome’s Music Lab Rhythm Maker. You will get a chance to experiment with different instruments and create your own rhythms.

1. Watch Mrs. Marquez's tutorial to the left first, and then you'll get a chance to try!

2. Open up Chrome Music Lab by clicking here, and click on the pink monkey (rhythm).

3. Use the arrows on the side to change characters/instruments.

4. Create a rhythm composition using either 1, 2 or 3 instruments at a time.

  • Can you tell which instrument has a high pitch and which instrument has the lowest pitch?

  • Which instrument is the small pink and yellow monkey playing?

5. On the Check-In page, tell me which instruments you used to make your rhythm.
