Hello! Thanks for visiting. I am always adding to and modifying this site based on parent suggestions, feedback from students and colleagues, and just how I happen to be feeling! Please look it over and let me know if there is something missing or anything I should consider changing. I want the site to be a useful resource for all 4th grade students and families. Please check out the "Student Activities" section below! Thanks!

My full name is Dylan Matthew D'Entremont (dee-en-tree-mont). I started teaching at Canyon Creek Elementary in 2013 after graduating from the University of Washington's teacher certification program. I have a degree in Business Administration and a Master's in Policy Studies, also from the University of Washington. Before starting my career in teaching, I worked in restaurants, coffee shops, construction, and served in the U.S. Navy. During my military career, I served onboard the USS Ronald Reagan, an aircraft carrier stationed in San Diego, California.
My family history is a complicated mosaic! My mother's side of the family migrated here from Portugal and Nova Scotia. My father's family were from the Paiute Tribes, indigenous to what is now the Western United States. My stepfather, who has been my teacher and hero since I was one, is from a family of Polish immigrants who migrated to Michigan.
I am a proud family man with a wife and two daughters, Zoe and Aya. We have two cats, Furgus and Pokey. We live near Canyon Park Middle School.
My teaching philosophy is based on three ideas: sparking positive relationships, developing persistence and grit, and cultivating mindfulness. I am so happy to be able to continue my service to my country and community as a teacher.
I enjoy teaching at Canyon Creek because of the diversity of the students, the kindness of the parents, and the positivity of my colleagues and staff at the school. Our PTA is active and generous and engaged in improving the school for all. I was honored to be named Educator of the Year for the 2018-19 school year and I plan on continuing to contribute to the school and community in any way I can.
Here is a message from our student teacher, Stuart MacDonald:
Hello! My name is Stuart MacDonald(Mr.Stuart) and I am excited to begin my teaching career with you. I am currently studying Educational Studies with a special education endorsement at the University of Washington Bothell. Some of my teaching experiences include volunteering at Frank Love Elementary, Moorlands Elementary, and Olivia Park Elementary in Mukilteo School District, as well as working with English Language Learners at Woodmoor Elementary and College Place Middle School in Edmonds School District.
I come from a musical background, my family has been connected to the Celtic community in the Pacific Northwest since the early 1900s. I spent most of my adolescence playing in pipe bands, the highlight being playing in the World Pipe Band Championships in 2015 with the Northwest Junior Pipe Band. I continue my involvement by volunteering my time at Northwest Junior Pipe Band practices.
My teaching philosophy is to make all students feel included in the classroom and to create a safe place for all, and to instill perseverance. Once again, I am looking forward to working with your kids and I'm exited to have them help me on my teaching journey. As soon as I have my Northshore School District E-mail I will post on here if you would like to contact me directly.
I would be delighted to see your child outside of school, doing what they do! Is your child a martial artist? A cultural dancer? Does she play basketball or do flag football? Does he sing in a church choir or play violin for a non-school organization? I would very much enjoy an invitation to check him/her out in their natural environment. I believe that students and families are much more than only the face we see at school and I am interested in developing a better idea of your student's interests, activities, culture, and faith. My goal is to go to more than 10 student events/activities this year. Will you help me reach my goal? Fill out the form below!
