Der Mann mit dem kleinen Hut
Brent und ich im Central Park von New York City
Grüß dich! My name is Ben Fisher-Rodriguez. I have taught German and Spanish at Bothell High School since 2019. Previous to that, I taught Spanish at the former Totem Middle School in Federal Way Public Schools. I have a BA in German and Spanish from UCLA, was a Fulbright Teaching Assistant in Chemnitz, Saxony, Germany for a year, and earned my teaching certification in Languages Other Than English at the University of Texas at Austin. I am active in the AATG, WAFLT, and ACTFL, and have presented at state, regional, and national language teaching conferences. In 2023, I was a finalist for National Language Teacher of the Year!
I have a passion for teaching and world languages, and take part in tons of professional development opportunities to increase my skills in providing students fun, comprehensible experiences in German. I also train other teachers in teaching techniques, and run a teaching blog called Mr. Fisher Says.
Prior to being a teacher, I worked at a movie theater, a Gymnasium in Chemnitz, Germany, a school for the hard of hearing in Chemnitz, an elementary school after school program, a tutoring program in a middle school, and a catering company. I also sang semi-professionally in operatic choirs (no joke).
In my free time, I enjoy reading (I try to read at least 2 books a month), writing, hiking, running, and spending time outside with my husband Brent and our dog Goose.
Hier stehe ich vor der kleinen Burg Scharfenstein, die man im Erzgebirge finden kann.
Das ist mein Hund. Er heißt Goose!
